This new venture is set in north Devon, & is a spin-off from the highly popular & successful 'County Gate'. The layout's proprietor is so pleased with our work, that we have now been appointed to line & weather all new additions to their locomotive fleet. Both operated some of the Brighton line’s crack expresses intheir early years, gradually being relegated to less glamorous roles, & ending their working lives atTunbridge Wells West shed, in early BR times. This kit will be designed to fit on the Hornby ‘B12’chassis, & will feature alternative cabs, chimneys & domes.LNER/BR ‘Claud Hamilton’ 4-4-0Representing this class as rebuilt with ‘D&J’ round-topped boiler & plain footplate, (This being themost common type to make it into BR livery). This kit, for the loco body only, will be based uponthe Hornby ‘2P’ chassis. Initially, this will be the tender-driven variety until we can examine theforthcoming motorised version & see if it fits.. (Alternatively, use an etched chassis kit from ourfriends at Comet Models) You will need a Hornby ‘B12’ tender, plus a short-wheelbase tender-driveunit from a ‘Compound’ or ‘Patriot’…LTSR/MR/LMS/BR ‘51’ class 4-4-2 & ‘69’ class 0-6-2 ‘Tilbury Tanks’Designed by Thomas Whitelegg, these locos had somewhat differing histories, most of the 4-4-2’seventually migrating to Nottinghamshire, (one was even tried on the Somerset & Dorset line), while the0-6-2’s spent their lives mostly operating freight services on the line for which they were built. It is intended to release both of these kits simultaneously, as they will share many components incommon. These may have to be produced with dedicated chassis kits, unless a reasonably accurate ready-to-runsubstitute comes along in the meantime. We plan to supply alternative smokebox doors & other boilerfittings to enable most periods to be modelled.
